The Proton-80

2011/07/21

.
The 20th July a very pleased Claes Meijer performed the first
flight of Scandicraft’s new, big Proton-80 vehicle.
.
Scandicraft’s new UAV platform is driven with a fuel-efficient jet turbine,
launched by a catapult specially developed for Proton-type crafts.
.
.
.
The project has been successfully performed at record speed.
.
The craft spans a width of 2.4 m and a weight of 20 kg. Thanks to this the speeds it is able to reach are extremely high, while still preserving the ability to fly slow.
Throughout summer the Proton-80 will be used in several planned costumer commissions. The Proton platforms use an autopilot developed by Instrument Control Systems, based in Linköping, Sweden.
.

It is our pleasure to announce that Scandicraft’s new UAV platform has completed its first out-of-sight flight at BTC (Bofors Test Center) in Sweden. The Protone system that is currently being tested in various sizes can be driven by an electric engine or jet turbine. Our goal is to develop a fast and light platform capable of 20-30 minutes of flight. The steering system is developed by Instrument Control Systems in Linköping.

During early summer there has been numerous qualified tests. Scandicraft has now completed its first order of shipments. Further shipments will carry out throughout autumn.
